Neckguard Information

USA Hockey Neck Guard Requirement

The safety of our players is our highest priority. In accordance with USA Hockey regulations, all players are required to wear a neck laceration protector (neck guard) during all practices and games. This requirement has been in effect since August 1, 2024.

What Parents Need to Know

  • Every player must wear a commercially manufactured neck laceration protector that is designed specifically for hockey.
  • The neck guard must be worn properly and remain in place throughout all on-ice activities.
  • Players without a neck guard will not be permitted to participate in practices or games until they are wearing the required protection.
  • Neck guards are available in several styles, including traditional wrap-around guards and cut-resistant base layer shirts with built-in neck protection. Families may choose the style that is most comfortable for their player.

If you have questions about approved neck guards or need assistance obtaining one, please contact our Equipment Manager.
