Volunteer Hours

We are using Crossbar for our volunteer hours, please bear with us as we transition into this new system.

All parents with a registered child, with the exception of Learn to Skate Program, will have an added charge of $250 to your registration fee. You may receive the $250 back at end of season if you complete your volunteer requirements.

FUNDRAISING AND CONCESSIONS

Munising Hockey pays the city for lease of the arena every season at $36,750. A majority of all fundraising and participation fees are applied to this balance. In order to keep our program going and costs down as low as possible we ask the families to commit to fundraisers and concessions during Open Skate/Games. We do our best to make this fair. 

Option 1

• 12 concessions and do 3 fundraisers - Wreaths are mandatory - It is our biggest money maker

Option 2

• 7 concessions and do 4 fundraisers - Wreaths are mandatory - It is our biggest money maker

FAMILIES FROM OUTSIDE OF ALGER COUNTY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO CONCESSIONS; HOWEVER, THEY ARE STILL REQUIRED TO DO THE FUNDRAISERS.   

The PARTICIPATION/Fundraising  FEE will be $250 with $50 down at time of registration and the rest can be paid with payment plan  If you meet your commitment for fundraiser and concessions, the $250 will be refunded back to you at the end of the season. The $250 is per family not per player. 

More information on fundraisers and how to sign up for concessions will be available soon. Please make sure you are checking your email regularly.  This is the primary way we communicate with all members about concession openings and fundraising deadlines. We are currently updating the website with all this information for parents. 

It is estimated that the ice will be around October 15, 2025. Your child’s coach will contact you with practice times and the date of any parent meetings.

FAQ

Every sports program is short on volunteers and helping parents. We cannot do this without you.

Why the added $250?

• This is a volunteer program and we have to raise the money for the ice fee of $37,500 for rented ice time and upkeep to the city. We do this with several fundraisers, concessions, and volunteering for positions like scoreboard keeper so we do not have to pay someone for it.

What are the fundraisers?

• This changes yearly as we try to get the most money for our efforts. There will be 3-5 different fundraisers to choose from.

What if I do not do my fundraisers or volunteer requirements?

• Munising Hockey will keep the $250
